Unhurried Team Building
Building stronger teams, one conversation at a time
Everyone wants to be part of a good team, and there are plenty of courses that will tell you what a great team does. And there are thousands of well documented “team building activities”.
But building a good team is harder work than that. It’s easy to talk about good practice. But it’s more challenging to create spaces where we can be honest with each other about what is and isn’t working. And to create the kind of emotional connections that allow people to collaborate in the face of stress. Relationships can’t be grown in a rush.
My work with teams is:
Emotional
Effective teams must have an emotional connection. Most of us have more talent for it than we realise
Experiential
I am short on theories and diagrams, and long on using activities and experiments to help teams feel their way to better ways of working
Relevant
Learning is rooted in live issues for participants, not teaching idealised abstractions based on other businesses and industries
Social
Some of the most powerful development happens when we learn from our experiences of each other
Practical
Nothing sustains a willingness to grow more than seeing some practical benefits, sooner rather than later
The First Steps
HI, I’m Johnnie Moore, the author of Unhurried. I’ve worked with organisations around the world to support more effective team work.
My approach avoids formulae, to-do lists and diagrams. When the right space is created, I believe we all have greater creative potential than we often realise. Working with me always starts with a simple conversation, and we build a programme of work from there.
